This is an exciting opportunity for vendors who wish to become suppliers to The Home Depot. Each company will have the opportunity to showcase their innovative products to the buyers and merchandisers for potential online or store placement. Interested vendors can apply online between 8/17/10 and 9/17/10. Selected vendors will be notified by October 22, 2010 and required to pay a registration fee of $400 to The Home Depot Foundation. The registration fee will be donated to City of Hope. Apply by accepting the terms and conditions and completing the application process between 8/17/10 and 9/17/10.


About the Merchandising/Direct Supplier Portal

Thank you for your interest in being a Merchandising/Direct Supplier to The Home Depot. Innovation is a priority at The Home Depot. Our merchants have a process to periodically review innovative products and this website provides the capability to receive your product submissions.

If you are a prospective supplier, please review the following before applying:

  • The Home Depot takes pride in the quality and value of products it makes available to customers. Therefore, each supplier is evaluated in several areas (quality control, capacity, financial resources, insurance, fulfillment, etc.) to ensure that the product exceeds customer expectations.
  • All potential suppliers should read and fully understand all of the terms and conditions located in the Supplier Reference Guide at: The Home Depot Supplier Center. If you are selected to become a supplier to The Home Depot, you must adhere to The Home Depot Supplier Guidelines and Policies.
  • All potential supplier should have the financial resources and/or the ability to raise adequate capital to properly fulfill The Home Depot requirements, proper levels of insurance to conduct business with The Home Depot, and electronic communication of business documents between your company and The Home Depot.
  • All suppliers are expected to sell their products online at homedepot.com prior to selling their products in The Home Depot stores. Please read Section 16 Homedepot.com on the Supplier Center website to ensure that you meet all homedepot.com terms and conditions.
  • Visit a Home Depot store to gain an understanding of our current products and to determine the category in which your product belongs.

If your product is of interest, a merchant will contact you and may ask you to present your idea. Unfortunately, due to the volume of submissions you will not receive formal communication if your product is not selected for further consideration.

Important Information about Intellectual Property

The Home Depot strongly believes in the protection of intellectual property. It’s Value Wheel and other logos, as well as its product brands and designs, represent tremendous assets of the Company. In order to preserve the rights of others who own intellectual property, care must be taken before any products or ideas are shared. The following requirements allow us to make this opportunity available while protecting the rights of you and of The Home Depot. You must agree to these terms before The Home Depot can accept your submission.

  • You represent and warrant that you own or control all rights in the product and that the product is available for sale in the US without violating anyone else's rights.
  • If you are selected to meet with a Merchant and/or for participation in an Open to Buy Event, you will be required to execute a mutual nondisclosure agreement (NDA). This is to protect both parties' intellectual property during any discussions.
  • In certain circumstances you may lose some of the exclusive rights in your product by submitting it for consideration before it is properly protected. Consult an attorney if you have any questions about protecting your rights.
  • If you are selected to become a supplier to The Home Depot you will be required to sign The Home Depot Supplier Buying Agreement, a legally binding contract. In addition, your product and/or factories may be subject to tests and/or audits in accordance with The Home Depot quality assurance and social and environmental responsibility (SER) policies. You are encouraged to read about these policies at The Home Depot Supplier Center.
  • Submission of your questionnaire does not guarantee you a discussion with a Merchant or selection for participation in an Open to Buy Event.
